Bharat Forge Ltd. (BFL) is the flagship company of Kalyani Group and India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of automotive components. The company provides high-performance, innovative safety and critical components and solutions to various industrial sectors, including automotive, railways, power, defense, construction & mining, aerospace, marine and oil and gas.

Objectives

To identify 100 villages with 6 key growth areas that have impacted the communities' lives through initiatives in holistic village development, education, sports, health, women empowerment and skill development.

Scope of Work

To conduct an impact assessment study in 6 villages in Purander and one village in the Baramati district of Maharashtra.

To understand the impact of the holistic approach that BFL has taken and suggest opportunities to scale up and replicate it in other villages.

To give special focus to the water initiative impact on the communities to check if it has benefitted at least 60% of the population.

To conduct focus group discussions and qualitative analysis of the impact of initiatives on household income, health and cropping patterns and also provide recommendations on building sustainability.

Project Execution

Collected primary data from 7 villages through surveys, focus group discussions, field observations and interactions with all key stakeholders.

Video calls and interviews were also conducted in the wake of COVID-19 restrictions.

Provided recommendations for scaling up as well as building sustainability in the final report.
